“Prove your worth”

clashes

We were drinking at his house with some of his friends when we started fighting. I wanted to end the night on an okay note, but he kept yelling at me to leave his house while I pleaded with him to talk to me for a second. Finally he said, “Fine. You have one minute to prove to me that you should be here.” We’d been together for two years, and I realized then that there was something seriously wrong if I had to prove my worth or be kicked out of his house.

Sara

Aftermath: I stormed out and we broke up the next morning.

“Club Girl”

chemistry clashes

With me she was a quiet, innocent girl. At the club she was loud and crazy – 180 degrees from who I thought she was…

J.

Aftermath: I should have ended it there, but she begged not to leave her. It went on for 2 more years. She’s been engaged and dumped twice since.

“Untrue and impossible”

clashes

She was cute, funny, outgoing and really nice. One night she had her co-workers over for a party in her 600 sq ft studio apartment. I went out with a friend instead. She was really drunk when she called and said I was f*cking her neighbor with the same name as her which was untrue and impossible. Her neighbors were all guys. She then threatened to throw my things out of her apartment if I did not come and get them immediately. I did not. The next day she had no idea what happened.

Adam

Aftermath: She said her dad used to get drunk and chase her mom around with a knife then not remember why when he sobered up. I moved away after that and she got back with her druggie ex. They are perfect now.

“In the Dump”

clashes

He came home to tell me he wanted to take me out on a romantic date, only he had to run an errand first. Five hours later, he had not returned and I found him drunk at a bar with a bunch of girls. After a long fight, he came home and threw away all my clothes in the dump because I was going to leave him and he didn’t want any other guy to see me looking sexy. What a loser.

Sandie

Aftermath: It was over the next day, when he had a crying tantrum on the ground threatening his life would be over without me.
