“Burnt Rubber”

clashes

First date: I’m driving her home and we’re talking about how the car handles. She wanted to see if it was a boast because she waited until the last second and said, “Turn there!” It was tight.

It was over when she lied. I could see her grinning through the turn. I’m thinking if she’s going to be that devious to cover a bad joke, what’s she going to hide from me later?

—nine0eight

Aftermath: I walked her to the house and told her I thought she was a nice girl but not much would come of it.

“My “dirty jew” best friend”

best of clashes

We were planning our wedding and my best friend offered to play at the reception for us. Oher than a one-time hook-up in college, we had always been platonic. My now-ex proceeded to say he could “never have children with a woman who slept with a dirty jew.” I threw him out in the middle of the night and never saw him again.

—KE

Aftermath: I told my doorman to never let him up to my apartment again. A few months later, he proposed – with my ring – to his Aryan, psycho ex who harassed me throughout our relationship. Good riddance!

“No forwarding address”

weird

I had been seeing her for about 2 weeks. That night we sealed the deal for the first time, and she left my house around 4am. My roomate woke me up at 7am to tell me I had company…It was the girl and her mother! She wanted to meet her new son-in-law!

—Incognito

Aftermath: I moved about a month later…no forwarding address!

“Puppydog man/boy”

quirks

Some of my friends were throwing a party in a nearby city, so I asked him to come with me. He spent the entire weekend at my heel, to the point of waiting outside the bathroom door when I was using the facilities. By the end of day 2, I was jumping at any chance to leave. Every time I came back, he was sitting right by the door, waiting.

—Homegrown

Aftermath: Because I was oh-so-mature at 19, I stopped answering his calls as soon as we got back to town. A couple months later, I moved across town and threatened my friends under pain of death not to give him my new address.

“Baby Face”

secrets!

Our “romantic date” for his birthday wound up being Cici’s Pizza with his mom, where I was informed that I was silly, he wouldn’t be 17 for another year. I was 17. And I’d been dating a 15 year old boy. *gag*

—Homegrown

Aftermath: I thought I’d give him one more chance by letting him take me to my school’s homecoming dance, but when his mom squashed those plans too I broke it off.
