“Fast & hard”

clashes

My boyfriend and I fell in love, fast & hard. Shortly after that, I found out I was expecting a baby. Soon after that, I found out my boyfriend had an addiction to prescription pills. I knew it was over while still recovering from my c-section delivery. He was stealing my pain medication out of my purse. Nice guy, huh?

—Lydia

Aftermath: Our relationship lasted another two long years. He went from one addiction to the next and I realized what an idiot I was.

“Steroid patient”

best of weird

He told me about a steroid patient he was treating in the ER for an infected abscess. He then told me that the patient was going to “hook him up and get him into some cool clubs” and that he took the patient’s phone number. I laughed. It was not a joke.

—Heather

Aftermath: That was the last date. I dumped him via text about a week later.

“First date tears”

quirks

When my date cried not once, not twice, but thrice on our first date when talking about past relationships. It actually wasn’t a bad date up until that point, but I dropped her off at 10:30 pm and went drinking after that.

—JJ

Aftermath: It was over before it began.

“Landed in my eye”

manners

We were in my kitchen when suddenly a speck of something landed in my eye, which started watering like crazy. I rubbed it, and started moving my eyelids around trying to wash out the offending particle — all the while complaining about how it hurt. Turning toward the light, I asked him to look and see if he could find anything. He chose that most inopportune moment to grab me by my face and plant me with our first kiss: Clumsy, wet, open-mouthed.

—Nic

Aftermath: We still dated for a while despite that just about everything about him annoyed me, but I cheated on him with my old hottie friend while on vacation.

“9 to 5”

best of secrets!

We met at a party. He was well-dressed, smart. There was dating, good sex. I asked why he didn’t work 9 to 5. He told me of his scheme that involved retail white collar theft and eBay. Then, he finally told me about prison. He gets charged in new felonies and tries to get me to testify in his case. He had his lawyer harassed me to perjure myself. Now, he writes me flowery jail letters. I read them and laugh.

—PL

Aftermath: Lasted zero days after he was arrested. He is still in jail. He tried to get his cousin to sell me his truck for bail money, but then wouldn’t sign over the title.
